Roberto Casula was born in Cagliari in 1962 and graduated in Mining Engineering in April 1988 at the University of Cagliari. He joined eni (formerly Agip S.p.A.) in July 1988 as a Reservoir Engineer.
From June 2014 until September 2018, Roberto Casula was the Chief Development, Operations and Technology Officer of Eni Spa leading an organization of 3000 people (Headquarters) and 9000 (worldwide).
From December 2011 until May 2014, he held the position of Executive Vice President for Africa and Middle East.
From October 2007 until December 2011, he held the position of Senior Vice President for the Sub-Sahara Region and fulfilled this task while being the Chairman of Eni Nigerian subsidiaries based in Abuja (Nigeria).
From 2005 to 2007, he took up the role of Managing Director of Eni North Africa BV in Tripoli (Libya).
In 2004, he was appointed as Managing Director of Eni Mediterranea Idrocarburi SpA in Gela (Italy) a special vehicle for running e&p activities in Sicily as a spinoff of Eni Spa Company.
From 2001 until March 2004, Roberto Casula was entrusted with the responsibility of Project Director for the development of South Pars phases 4-5, based in Tehran (Iran).
From 2000 until 2001, Casula was the Department Manager for Technical Services based in Milan (Italy).
From 1997 until 2000, he held the role of Development and Production Coordinator, in Eni S.p.A, based in Milan (Italy).
From 1994 until 1997, Casula held the position of Chief Development and Production Engineer in Agip Angola ltd based in Luanda (Angola).
From 1992 until 1993, he was the Petroleum Engineer in Agip Angola Ltd based in Luanda (Angola).
